Biography
Dr. Nikolay Fedorovich Shchapov is a distinguished pediatric surgeon specializing in thoracoabdominal surgery and emergency care for children. He currently serves as the Lead Pediatric Surgeon at Ilyinskaya Hospital in Moscow, Russia, where he oversees the thoracoabdominal surgery service and emergency surgical care for pediatric patients.
Dr. Shchapov graduated with honors from the Pediatric Faculty of Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University in 2009. He completed his residency in pediatric surgery in 2011 and earned his Candidate of Medical Sciences degree in 2014. His clinical experience includes roles as a pediatric surgeon at Filatov Children’s City Clinical Hospital and as an assistant professor at Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University. From 2017 to 2021, he headed the Neonatal and Infant Surgery Department at the Moscow Regional Center for Maternity and Childhood Healthcare and later served as the Head of the Pediatric Surgery Clinic at the Moscow Regional Research and Clinical Institute (MONIKI).
Dr. Shchapov's research interests encompass neonatal surgery, pediatric urology, and minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopic, robotic, and laser surgeries. He has authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications and holds three surgical patents. His work has contributed significantly to the understanding and treatment of congenital gastrointestinal and urinary tract malformations in children .
In addition to his clinical and research endeavors, Dr. Shchapov is an active member of the academic community, serving as an editor for IgMin Research, where he contributes to advancing knowledge in pediatric surgery and related fields .
