Biography
Dr. Ashish Pandey, MDS, MBA, DPS is a distinguished prosthodontist and senior academic leader with over 29 years of professional experience—11 in government healthcare and 18 in dental education. He earned his BDS and MDS in Prosthodontics from the prestigious King George’s Medical College, Lucknow, in 1990 and 1993, respectively
. Following a decade in clinical service within public hospitals, he transitioned in 2005 to academia, joining Daswani Dental College & Research Centre, Kota, Rajasthan. He currently serves as Director of Administration, Head of the Department of Prosthodontics, and Senior Professor.
Dr. Pandey has made significant contributions to prosthodontic education, research, and healthcare administration. With more than 30 years of specialized experience in designing and fabricating dental prostheses, he excels in wax modeling, supervising technical teams, and collaborating with interdisciplinary clinicians to address complex oral-health challenges. As a seasoned academic mentor, he has guided over 25 postgraduate students and contributed 22 publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals.
His recent research includes a co‑authored short communication, “The Impact of Teledentistry on Modern Dental Practice,” addressing the integration of telehealth in oral-care delivery. Moreover, he holds leadership roles beyond his institution—participating as a speaker at conferences like Dentistry 2025–2026 and earning recognition for his pioneering efforts in the application of artificial intelligence within prosthodontics.

Dr. Ashish Pandey’s research interests lie at the intersection of prosthodontics, digital dentistry, and dental education. With a strong foundation in fixed and removable prostheses, he explores innovations in crown and bridge techniques, implant-supported restorations, and maxillofacial prosthetics. Dr. Pandey is particularly interested in integrating emerging technologies such as CAD/CAM systems, 3D printing, and teledentistry into routine clinical workflows to enhance accuracy and accessibility in prosthodontic care. His recent work also investigates the role of artificial intelligence and machine learning in diagnostics, treatment planning, and personalized dental care. In the educational domain, he focuses on improving pedagogy for dental students through simulation-based learning and digital modules. With a keen commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, his research addresses geriatric oral health, minimally invasive prosthodontic techniques, and biocompatible materials. Dr. Pandey aims to bridge traditional prosthodontic practice with future-forward innovations that improve patient outcomes and expand the reach of quality dental care.

This article explores the various applications, benefits, challenges, and future directions of teledentistry in modern dental practice. Emphasis is placed on its role in improving access to care, enhancing patient education, and supporting dental professionals through remote consultations and collaborations.
